Assignment
My Pension Expert (MPE) is one of the UK’s leading independent financial advisers specialising in retirement. Based in Doncaster and founded in 2010, MPE has helped thousands of people across the UK achieve the financial future they want.
CRC began its partnership with My Pension Expert in 2020, amidst the height of the Covid pandemic. In the challenging years that followed for Britain’s retirement planners, MPE emerged as a leading voice for consumers within the financial services sector. The organisation has distinguished itself by regularly producing valuable industry insights, with its CEO Andrew Megson and Policy Director Lily Megson both becoming prominent thought leaders on various pension and personal finance topics.
This can be observed in MPE’s advocacy for policy reform and increased transparency regarding the issue of pension transfer delays.
As part of their operations, MPE assists clients with pension transfers, moving funds between providers to achieve better outcomes, consolidate accounts, or lower fees. However, the process can be problematic. Slow and complex pension transfers are a longstanding issue in the UK, while pension engagement is another sticking point. MPE needed to raise its profile in front of consumers aged 45-65, promoting the value of financial advice and effective retirement planning.
Campaign
To explore the issue further, CRC created a PR strategy to get MPE into the personal finance sections of national newspapers, as well as specialist pensions and personal finance publications. The primary focus was to use quantitative research to highlight the issues of pension engagement, complex transfers and a lack of preparedness for retirement.
Complementing the unique, insightful research, we built MPE’s profile as a prominent authority on pension policy. Any government announcement relating to pensions and pension planners, CRC ensured MPE was on hand to offer their views – and always championing the interests of consumers.
Meanwhile, we were able to capitalise on consistent, high-level media coverage by creating informative, educational content for MPE’s social media and website (blogs and reports), offering value to its current and prospective clients and helping guide them through the complexity of retirement planning.
